Habitat Young Leaders Build (HYLB)

Habitat Young Leaders Build (HYLB) is a youth-driven movement across the Asia-Pacific region to combat poverty housing and support families in need of safe, decent homes. Since its launch in 2012, HYLB has united young people, celebrities, and corporate volunteers to volunteer, fundraise, and advocate for affordable housing as a pathway out of poverty.

What is HYLB?

HYLB is Habitat for Humanity’s largest youth movement, empowering young people to:

Volunteer: Build homes and communities.
Fundraise: Raise funds to support housing projects.
Advocate: Speak out for the need for decent housing.

The campaign mobilizes youth to take action both on-site and online, creating a tangible impact on poverty housing in the Asia-Pacific region.

2015: Over 668,000 participants from 16 countries raised $560,000, helping 13,000 families.

2014: 800,000 supporters across 11 countries raised $400,000, serving 1,700 families.

2023 HYLB Campaign
Launch: December 5, 2023 (International Volunteer Day).

Peak: April 2, 2024, with simultaneous builds and activities across the region.

Why the Name Change?

Originally called Habitat Youth BUILD, the campaign was renamed Habitat Young Leaders Build to reflect the growing role of youth as leaders of today, not just tomorrow.
