Volunteer Program Coordinator

Responsibilities

The Volunteer Program Coordinator works closely with other units including Resource Development and Communications and other stakeholders to promote the HFHC’s Volunteer for Development Program through inspiring action for housing through mobilizing international and local volunteers and institutional engagement for building and influencing the cause of housing issues. This incumbent is to oversee the Global Village program (GV) and the execution of the volunteer engagement program, including coordination, promotion, and organizing volunteering-related events. S/he will also manage and support the engagement of both local and international volunteers in Habitat for Humanity Cambodia’s projects. This role involves strategic development, coordination, communication, logistical management, and reporting to enhance volunteer experience and ensure alignment with organizational goals in collaboration with GV colleagues at Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) and the Asia and Pacific Area Office (APO) to promote volunteer program’s work to the broader Habitat network.

Local Volunteer and Institutional Engagement Initiatives – 50%

• Assist SM-OPP in developing and managing Habitat Cambodia’s Local Volunteering Engagement strategy in alignment with regional and national frameworks.
• Closely collaborate with the other program teams, RD and the Communication Team and other stakeholders to design innovative local volunteering projects/initiatives.
• Actively acts as the focal point to mobilize local volunteers and institutional engagement in housing advocacy efforts and to build and influence the cause of housing issues.
• With technical support from SM-OPP, SM-RDC, and the MEAL team, develop monitoring plans for volunteer work and best practices.
• Coordinate with internal teams to integrate the volunteering strategy into various projects and program activities.
• Support capacity building for local volunteers through organizing training, workshops, and events.
• Represent Habitat for Humanity International Cambodia (Habitat Cambodia) at youth-led forums and other relevant platforms.
• Work with the communications team to design local build communications and media content to promote the volunteer program.
• Build networks with private and public sectors, educational institutions, and local organizations to promote volunteer activities.
• Lead initiatives to create platforms for volunteer discussions on social and housing issues.

International Volunteer and Engagement (Global Village Program) – 50%

• Collaborate with HFHI-APO and sending countries to plan for international volunteers’ annual build activity.
• Act as the primary contact for international volunteer engagement, including all pre- and post-build activities.
• Provide capacity building to GV Assistants, Community Mobilizers and local outsourced facilitators, and train and mentor new hosting assistants on best practices.
• Manage the Volunteer Engagement International Teams Calendar, coordinating approvals and cancellations.
• Identify the potential activities to promote volunteer engagement and enhance the Inspire Action and manage an efficient distribution of all Global Village materials.
• Collect stories and photos for publications in collaboration with the program, PDMEAL and RD and Communications Teams. Oversee logistical arrangements for international volunteer teams, including transportation, accommodation, and other related activities
• Prepare and communicate project and hosting information for Cambodia, including itineraries and budgets, to volunteer leaders.
• Manage logistics planning for big builds, corporate builds and other major events.
• Track accurate records of number of international volunteers hosted in Cambodia.
• Provide accurate report on international volunteer activities.
• Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

Education:

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in international relations, social work, community development, business development, communications, social development or related fields.

Experience:

• At least 5 years of direct experience of working with a non- profit organization, and ideally 2 years of experience working for a youth led organization or in volunteer coordination or a similar role.
• Demonstrated track record in working with youth led/youth focused organizations and relevant government bodies and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated communication, coordination and facilitation skills.
