Enhancement of Climate Change Resilience and Income of Preaek Luong Community People in Cambodia

The Enhancement of Climate Change Resilience and Income of Preaek Luong Community People in Cambodia is a 3-years project that aims to improve the communities’ resiliency toward climate change through improving access to safe and secure houses against climate change impacts for the vulnerable group.

As a result, within the first year of the project from January to December 2021, 10 climate adaptation houses were built by adding climate adaption materials into the new house design, especially the plastic roof that can reduce heat, noise from rainfall and polycarbonate to improve light inside the house, for 10 vulnerable families in 4 villages of Preaek Luong commune, Eak Phnom district, Battambang province. Besides this, climate-smart elements such as rainwater collecting systems, climate smart-farming, Biogas cookstove, drip irrigation systems were also integrate into the house based on the homeowner’s actual context and potentiality.

This project is supported by the Community Chest of Korea through Habitat for Humanity Korea.
